Putin 'very Ill With Blood Cancer Says Top Oligarch In Secret Tape'

As Russia's war in Ukraine enters its fourth month, reports suggest Russia's leadership may be ill. But that may be wishful thinking for many of Putin's critics, who seem ready to accept conspiracy theories of divine retribution or a royal coup over the ongoing attacks in Ukraine.

In an interview on Sunday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov was forced to deny speculation that Putin was ill or dead, as the diplomat continued to defend Russia's attack on Ukraine.

"President Vladimir Putin appears in public every day," Lavrov said in an interview with French television. "You can watch him on the screen, read and listen to his performances. I don't think a sane person can see signs of illness or poor health.

He said this left reports of Putin's poor health "on the conscience of those who spread the rumours".

Vladimir Putin Using 'foreign Treatment' To Treat His Cancer And Allow Him To Continue Directing Ukraine War, Claims Russian Analyst

On Monday, Putin spoke with the President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and presided over a meeting of the Security Council. Both meetings took place remotely, as Kremlin leaders continue to isolate themselves from the coronavirus. Aides and world leaders who met Putin but were not quarantined, had to sit at a long table, tens of meters away from the president.

Last week, the head of Ukraine's military intelligence, Kirill Budanov, said that he believed that Putin was seriously ill and that he had survived the latest coup attempt, saying only that the attackers were from the Caucasus region.

"He has several serious illnesses, one of which is cancer," Budanov told the Ukrainskaya Pravda network. "But you shouldn't hope that Putin will die tomorrow." He also claimed that the coup "will eventually lead to a change in the leadership of the Russian Federation. This process has already begun.

A former Soviet spy claims Putin is suffering from Parkinson's disease, while New Lines magazine claims to have obtained a recording of an oligarch saying Putin is "seriously ill with blood cancer". No reports have been confirmed.

For Russians Against Ukraine War, Putin Has A Cruel Warning

One report from the investigative website Proekt said that Putin is believed to have thyroid cancer or another disease.

The report is based on leaked travel documents that show Putin has received regular visits from an oncologist and two otolaryngologists, who the network says often make the first diagnosis of thyroid disease. The Kremlin has not confirmed reports of Putin being ill, saying the Russian leader is in critical condition. My health is excellent. Dmitry Peskov, the Kremlin spokesman, called this "a fabrication and an untruth."

Rumors that Putin is sick and injured have been around for more than two decades, and to some extent it is the Kremlin's fault for hiding information about Putin's health and whereabouts.

Since taking power, Putin has been portrayed as an active athlete in contrast to the image of Boris Yeltsin as a heavy drinker whose poor health made him a poorer leader.

Putin's Ukraine Attack Is An Attempt To Delay His Own Demise

But Putin has been absent for weeks, amid reports of sports injuries from ice hockey and judo. He recently told an interviewer that he also fell off a horse during his presidency.

The Kremlin regularly used pre-film reports, often referred to as "guards", to show that Putin was in meetings when in fact he was unknown. There was no other incident during the coronavirus outbreak when Putin claimed to be in Moscow while reports said he was in Sochi, occasionally appearing in the same office as in Moscow.

Since the start of the war, several reports have focused specifically on Putin's ailing body language, suggesting that he may have back problems. A very large frame was explained as an alternative because the president wears a back corset or some type of body armor when in public.

The rumors were fueled when Putin was seen grimacing during a meeting with Shoigu in late April. Putin will turn 70 in October and the focus on his health will continue as he ages. But Budanov said he believes Putin "has a few more years left. Whether we like it or not, that's the truth.

Vladimir Putin Cancer Reports: Kremlin Rep Furiously Dismisses Speculation Over Russian Leader's Health, Tells Media To 'bite Your Tongue'

In a recording obtained by the American magazine "New Lines", an unknown oligarch is heard discussing Putin's health with Western venture capital investors.

The new claims come amid health concerns about the Kremlin leader's frail appearance at public events, including last week's Victory Day celebrations, during which a video was circulated showing President Putin "shaking uncontrollably".

The Russian oligarch said in the recording that Putin had undergone blood cancer-related back surgery shortly before he ordered the invasion of Ukraine - a so-called "special military operation".

He added that the president had gone mad. "He really destroyed the Russian economy, the Ukrainian economy and many other economies - completely destroyed [it]," the oligarch said. "The problem is in their heads. One crazy person can change the world."

Speculation about the health of Russian dictator Vladimir Putin has been rife in recent years. Before February, it was purely in the realm of rumours.

But the issue came up after Russia launched a full-scale war against Ukraine. Before long, activists, journalists and even intelligence agencies were all sharing public information about the dictator's health - and its wartime consequences.

The biggest revelation came in May when pro-Kremlin film director Oliver Stone said on a podcast that Putin had cancer in remission.

Is Putin Really Ill? Expert Says He Is Probably 'a Hypochondriac'

"Remember this, Mr. Putin had this cancer and I think he's (cured)," Stone said, becoming the first person directly related to the Russian autocrat to acknowledge his health problems.

The closest thing to proof was in 2021 when Russian investigative journalists revealed that a large group of doctors, including a thyroid cancer specialist, had accompanied Putin on a trip to Russia.

"We have confirmed this information (that Putin has cancer)," Kirill Budanov, head of Ukraine's military intelligence, told the online newspaper Ukrainska Pravda in May. "He has several serious illnesses, including cancer. But we don't expect Putin to die tomorrow. He has at least a few years to come whether we like it or not.

Unverifiable rumors that Putin is suffering from cancer, or some other serious illness, have been rife since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic as the Russian dictator reduced his public appearances. He soon reappeared in public, meeting his partners and housekeepers behind a ridiculously long table.

The public handshake of old has also disappeared from Putin's life. Opponents of the dictator say that Putin spends most of his time in a special compound, a kind of bunker, where he remains isolated from the real world.

In a guest article for the New York Times, the well-known Russian journalist and author Mikhail Ziger, author of the book "All the Kremlin People: In Vladimir Putin's Court," wrote that "Putin spent the spring and summer of 2020 in quarantine at his house in Valdai, about halfway between Moscow to St. Petersburg."

"The guards implemented a strict protocol: no one can see the president without a one-week quarantine - not even Igor Sechin, who was his personal secretary, now the head of the state-owned oil company Rosneft," wrote Seeger. "They say Sechin is in quarantine for two or three weeks a month,
